I really enjoyed this book. It's the start of this series, but we have met Remington before. And I was intrigued to see what his story would be. He and Raven work together, well he's the co owner and she's the manager of The Back Door bar.

You can feel the chemistry between them from the beginning. I liked the way Remington wasn't pushy, didnt investigate. he allowed Raven to open up and be honest with him. She had a lot of secrets. The plot and the way the story unfolds was good to read. It wasn't your typical billionaire romance. But they never are when this author tells her stories.

It was really enjoyable and I really recommend this book.

Phillips delivers a great start to The Sterling Family Series in Just One More Moment. This second chances and new beginnings romance will leave you rooting for the characters until the end!

For Raven Walsh, attending the glamorous wedding of her boss/friend Zach Dare, reminds her of the life she used to have. A life she’s been trying so desperately to get away from for a while. Though she doesn’t miss the luxury of her upbringing, it has lead her to live a normal and modest life. As Raven takes on more responsibility as the manager of The Back Door bar, she has immediate access to her boss/co-owner of the bar, Remy Sterling. Even though they are friends, Remy enjoys flirting with her, leaving Raven to wonder if they could ever have something else. But there is the fear of what could happen if those around her get hurt because of her past. Leaving Raven to build walls around her in order to protect her heart. It’s until said past comes back to haunt her that she will have to rely on Remy more than ever.

As a former detective and current private investigator, Remington “Remy” Sterling has helped uncovered many cases throughout his career. But Raven Walsh has proven to be a mystery he can’t seem to solve. Being co-owner of The Back Door bar, Remy spends a lot of time running the business alongside his manager, Raven. Their instant connection is magnetic and it is easy to be around her. Yet, it’s his attraction towards her that has made it difficult to get Raven out of his head. He knows that she isn’t ready for more than she can give him, so when the lines are crossed, a mutual friends-with-benefits arrangement is in place. Until her past comes knocking, putting Raven in danger that Remy vows to keep her safe no matter what, including her heart.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Just One More Moment, this steamy and suspenseful romance will keep you at the edge of your seat. Remy is ready to use what he’s experienced in his career in order to protect the woman he is falling in love with. After all, going through a similar loss himself has made him even more protective of her. Raven is not about to let her past hurt her loved ones, even if it means sacrificing her growing feelings for Remy. In the end, they both will have to rely on each other if they want to have a chance at a real relationship. Told in dual POV, expect the unexpected and an ending worth for their story. I would highly recommend it and I cannot wait to read the next books in the series! :)

I really enjoyed this idea of introducing us to side characters in a prior series, and then giving them their own story in the first book of a new series!

Raven Walsh has had a rough life. She was a sudden orphan as a child, who was adopted by a wealthy family, who already had a sociopath for a son. He was dangerous and he made her life miserable. When she came home one day to find him assaulting her roommate, she testified against him and put him in jail. But, now he's getting out, and she's worried she'll never be safe.

Remy Sterling was born to a wealthy family, and has had his own successes as well. But, he has also had great tragedy, and the resulting unresolved trauma. Now, the woman he's had his eye on needs protecting, and he knows he's the man for the job. Just like he knows Raven is the only one for him. If only Raven would admit that she wants him just as much.

Raven and Remy's chemistry was BIG, but Raven was so scared to truly want ANYTHING in her life, for fear of her adopted brother trying to take it away from her. People close to her could be in danger, and she was not willing to risk it. Remy really had to work on breaking down her walls, and thankfully he was up for the job!

Remy's siblings were delightful, and I'm looking forward to reading more about them in upcoming books! I loved how they were all there for him, and in turn for Raven. They are all going to be great main characters moving forward!

CW for off-page traumatic parental death in the past, memories and brief descriptions of assault and attempted SA of the heroine's former roommate, and memories/descriptions of attempted assault and terrorizing of the heroine in the past, and stalking of the heroine by the villain.

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. This review is my personal opinion, voluntarily given.

𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 is the first book in the new Sterling Family series by Carly Phillips, featuring a steamy and entertaining friends to lovers romance with a side of suspense for Remington and Raven. Raven has spent her adult life on the run from the dangers in her past, so falling in love will never be in the cards for her. However, she can no longer deny the fiery chemistry between her and her boss, Remy Sterling. Maybe, just maybe, one night together will satisfy that desire. But when Raven’s secrets catch she has to decide if she can risk trusting Remy. Can Remy convince her that love is worth all the risks before it’s too late?

What a fantastic way to start a new series! Remy and Raven definitely had blazing hot chemistry together, and they connected on an emotional level as well. I appreciated Raven’s unique backstory and the way it shaped her into the strong woman she became. It’s no wonder she had trouble trusting people or letting them get close!🥺 Protective alpha Remy was drool worthy!😍 The mighty ones definitely do fall harder!😏 The suspense aspect was engaging throughout, and I love the way it helped bring the rest of the family in, giving readers a chance to get to know them a little. I’m already excited for their stories! That sense of family love and loyalty was strong, which I love, and the book also had a strong found family vibe which is a favorite of mine! This is shaping up to be a great series, and with Dex Sterling and Samantha Dare on deck, I cannot freaking wait!!

I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Just One More Moment is one of those stories that grabs you by the heart strings from the very first words, then tunnels in and refuses to release you until the very end. I was transfixed as I watched Remy and Raven navigated this sometimes rocky and terrifying relationship as they found a way out of the darkness they’d been living in and into a world where they could openly live together in the light. Raven has lived so long in the shadows of her past, a past that scarred her and left her with very few allies in life and a fear for letting anyone close every again. Remy has his own darkness in his past, but he has worked hard to atone and move forward, even though it sometimes still colors his relationship choices. Together they can conquer their problems and defeats the enemy that is out to prevent them from ever having their HEA, but the trust that they have to share is one that neither of them have ever had in a partner and it has to come quickly. The passion is there and the friendship is slowly growing, but the love is one that takes a bit of time and when is finally flourishes we know that no evil will ever stop it or knock it down. I loved every moment of this story and cannot wait for Dex’s story (Just One MoreDare) because I know that one is going to be explosive. Carly has truly outdone herself with this new series and she is just starting!

Just One More Moment returns readers to the world of the Dares and the Kingston's and introduces a whole new family to fall in love with.

The Sterlings.

Who have connections to some familiar Carly Phillips characters including Zach Dare from Just One Tease. As Remy is his business partner and co-owner of The Back Door bar.

Which is where Raven Walsh works and the place she feels safest. Having escaped a traumatic childhood and adoptive parents who weren't and in her mother's case still aren't supportive.

But on the plus side she has a brother, sister and nephew. Who she adores.

However, she does have another brother who is currently serving time in prison for attempting to rape and beat her friend Emily. And it's fair to say her brother Lance is a psychopath. Who has tormented Raven for years and even tried to assault her too.

And now he's getting out of prison early and is determined to get revenge on Raven. Who he blames for everything that has gone wrong in his life and is willing to hurt or use anyone close to her to get it.

Only Remy is determined not to let that happen.

But is he stepping up because he has a Saviour complex? Or because he genuinely cares for Raven?

And can Raven really believe it's safe to let guard down and care for someone whilst Lance is on the loose.

And with danger, spice, emotion and sweetness. This was an enjoyable and engaging read. That I devoured in just a few hours and I look forward to reading more from the Sterling family especially as Dex and a Dare are next!!

My thanks to Booksprout and Carly Phillips for the opportunity to read an early copy of Just One More Moment. 😊

This is a great start to Carly's newest series, The Sterling Family.

Remy and Raven are incredibly strong characters, in their own rights. But I also enjoyed watching their relationship go from friends and progressing to lovers.

Just One More Moment was very well written. I really enjoyed how Carly was able to blend the romance aspect with the suspense in this story and not take away from any parts of the story or the characters.

The buildup of everything was great. You could feel the story build as it progressed and you could see the chemistry between Remy and Raven continue to climb. My only gripe is that the ending felt more anti-climatic compared to the build up. It all ended a bit too quickly.

Overall, a great read and wonderful start to a new series. I am looking forward to reading about more of Remy's brothers in future books.

In "Just One More Moment," Raven Walsh holds onto the belief that happily ever afters only exist within the pages of romantic novels. However, her outlook on love is about to be challenged. Romance isn't on Raven's agenda; she's too busy running from her past. But she's willing to entertain a friends-with-benefits arrangement with Remington Sterling, the hot billionaire co-owner of The Back Door bar. Yet, entrusting him with her heart is out of the question.

Remington has been captivated by the intelligent and sexy Raven since she started working as a waitress at his bar. He knows she's hesitant when it comes to relationships, but he's determined to prove she's worth the risk.

As Raven's secrets come crashing down on her, she must decide if the potential cost of trusting Remy is more than she's willing to bear, while Remy must determine how far he's willing to go for love.

"Just One More Moment," book one in the Sterling Family series (each can be read as standalone), is a spicy contemporary romance featuring a spirited heroine ready to flee and an alpha hero who's more than ready to catch her.

It's a new series, but Remington Sterling, or Remy, is not a stranger. He is a co-owner of the Back Door. Raven is his manager.

The attraction has been there from the beginning, but she has secrets and feels she cannot bring him down with her. Love is not an option for her, but one night is. Remy knows there are things she is not telling him, but he gives her the time and space to reveal her secrets. But as danger is lurking, she must tell him sooner rather than later. As we peel back the layers to what is going on, will the danger in her life come to a head? I recommend you read the book for the answers.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

DNF (0__0) I’m just gonna keep this short, the blurb was really intriguing and I’ve heard of how nice this author’s books are so I got excited for this one. However, this was such a disappointment not only is the plot’s pacing ridiculously fast, there is no room for any relationship & proper plot development to happen because of this the characters weren’t given enough depth to them. Everything was happening in fast forward that it affected the story. The writing style is definitely not for me but it is clear on what the story flow would be, it’s just that it fell short on the execution.

A Predator Has Her In His Sights

Raven is targeted by her sociopathic brother, Lance. Just released from prison, he's vowed to get revenge because Raven testified after he assaulted her best friend. Raven's entire life has been limited because she fears that anyone close to her will be harmed by Lance. Long intrigued by Raven, Remy becomes her protector and gets close to her. (Remy is a billionaire with a secure penthouse apartment and the funds to hire bodyguards. Oh, to live in a romance novel. )

This is a short book - about 200 pages. There's not much plot besides Remy's and Raven's need to evade and a plan to catch her stalker. The romance develops as they share truths about growing up with each other. (Remy has a backstory, too.)

I thought the most interesting character in the book was Raven's other brother, single Dad, Caleb. I might be more interested in reading his story.

Raven's never let herself give into her gorgeous boss's obvious interest in her until a wedding where he's the best man and she's a guest. A few drinks, some dancing, and the heat in Remy's eyes, and Raven's decided to finally let herself have something just for herself. It doesn't mean she's going to get that happy ever after her friend keeps hoping for her and Remy, but for now, it's enough (or so she tells herself). Because she knows better than to hope for forever when her past is always waiting just around the corner...

Remy has waited long enough to explore his interest in his beautiful employee Raven. Now they're at a wedding, and she's letting her guard down, just a bit. It's enough to get her to give in, but is it enough to get her to go all in the way he wants? He'll be patient and show her she can trust him to take on whatever it is that he knows she's running from. He'll show her that he can protect her, and love her at the same time.

When an alpha is an absolute sweetheart all while being fiercely protective and possessive? That is the very best kind of alpha, the kind like Remy. I absolutely fell in love with him and the way he loved Raven. He knew he couldn't push too hard or she'd bolt, because the way she'd never let him in before was an obvious sign there was something she was scared of. Raven and Remy are strong both individually and as a couple. The way that he got past her walls, and stood by her side unfailingly as her true partner, that's the kind of love I look for when I read romance. Carly never fails in this area and I'm so excited to read more of the Sterling Family now.

Great start to a new family series
5 stars

This is the start of a new series for Carly Phillips as the Sterling Family take the spotlight. This book stands completely alone but we do have a little bit of Dare crossover for those who’ve read Ms Phillips' previous books. Our hero, Remy, is the business partner of Zach Dare who we met in Just One Tease.

Our couple have been working together for some time at the start of the book and there’s already a relationship between the two. Even if it’s just as colleagues. But our hero, Remy, definitely wants there to be more between them. While Raven does feel the same, her past - that may well become her present - means she’s reluctant to get close to anyone.

Remy is the classic Carly Phillips’s hero that I love to read about. He’s in charge, alpha, protective and since he falls first in this story, he’s determined to convince Raven that they can be together and are perfect for each other. He did stray a little bit too close to telling Raven what to do on one occasion, but other than that, I loved him and wanted him to win Raven over.

Our heroine, Raven, is a strong and determined woman that has had a bit of a difficult past that is threatening to rear its ugly head once again. It’s perfectly understandable why she tries to keep everyone at arm’s length. But it’s equally understandable how Remy manages to break down her walls. She was a likeable character and I always enjoy it when a character who’s had to be on guard, finally finds her people and her place.

As Remy and Raven both know each other at the start of the story, it’s mere pages before they first get together. But they’ve already got some established chemistry so it feels right. That kicks off some supposed ‘friends with benefits’ arrangement that’s definitely more than that. It’s all the sexy goodness that you would expect from Ms Phillips and it really showed the development of Remy and Raven’s relationship.

As an aside - is it just me that really struggles when characters have the same first initial of their names? It wasn’t too bad in this story but it’s something that I really have an issue with.

There is a suspense element to this story but it’s nothing too dark or disturbing. I mean, the situation isn’t pleasant but it’s written in a way that adds a little drama and suspense to the story but doesn’t gratuitously terrorise. It’s wrapped up neatly and satisfactorily and I was happy.

This is the first book in the new Sterling Family series, as I said, and we’re introduced to various different family members that I’m hoping all get their own stories. I really fell into Remy and Raven’s romance and loved them as a couple. But it was also about the world that was starting to be built around them. It’s that big family energy and love that Carly Phillips writes so well and makes you want to be a part of. I really enjoyed this first offering and can’t wait to read more. Definitely recommend. 5 stars.

I am giving this book a 3.5. I thought it was a solid book and there were elements I really liked. I liked the Remy and Raven I thought they were interesting characters on their own. I loved Raven and her backstory and how strong she was. She was definitely the type of character who is hard on the outside but soft on the inside due to her circumstances. She only cared about keeping those around her safe even if it meant she was alone at times. It really made your heartache for her and just want things to go right for her.

I also liked Remy who was very into Raven and knew she was special at the start but also knew there was something going on when it came to her. But he also knew not to push her and to respect all her boundaries. This meant sometimes not using his connections to find out her story to instead let her come to him when she was ready to tell him. I will say at the start I was very confused as to what his career was. We see him acting as a co-owner of a restaurant, but he talks about being a detective, but you see him doing what I think was PI work on the side and then you find out he may have had a tech business or something. I was just a little confused at times what his job was and how he made his money as this was marketed to me as a billionaire romance MMC so I was confused how a cop in NYPD become a billionaire. So, if you're looking for a billionaire romance where they lavish the girl and all that comes with it that's not this book. But this is definitely a man who has worked hard for what he has and deserving of all his success. He also has a tragic backstory that makes your heartbreak for him.

I will say at times I didn't always feel their chemistry, but I could tell that the two of them belong together all the same. I also liked the glimpses into Remy's family as it sets it up for the other stories that are to come into the series, and it was nice to start to get to know them.

I did enjoy the plot line when it came to Raven's situation especially the buildup and what she had to go through when it her brother, but I will say the way it was resolved was so quick that it felt a little anticlimactic after all the buildup we went through with all the shit he put her through. I wish it had been drawn out a little just to make the payoff more substantial.

in the end I did enjoy this book and I think it was a solid read. But I think with a couple tweaks this could have been a 4 easily for me.

This book is about Raven and Remy who work together at a restaurant Remy co-owns and Raven Manages. They are fighting their attraction for one another mostly as Raven seem closed off to having any relationship friendship or romantic to those around her. But at the night at a wedding of a mutual friend they give into their desires and have an amazing night together. After that they can't seem to keep their hands off one another. However, the secrets Raven has hidden have come to light forcing her to open up to Remy which sends his overprotective nature into overdrive with her. As they work together to solve her problem it just forces them together and their friendship starts to turn into friends with benefits with Remy wanting more. Will Remy be able to help solve Raven's problem and get the girl in the end. Read to find out.

The Sterling Family series had the best start with Remy & Raven! I really enjoyed reading these two finally, knowing their personal stories, all the characters with the potential to have their own story in the series and the touch of suspense in this plot.

Raven is a girl that I fell in love with from the first time I read her and I loved that Carly show us immediately one of the secrets that this character hides, I really liked reading her relationship with her brother Caleb and it broke my heart to know the reason behind her constant fear. I also loved reading her defending herself against the person who was supposed to love her unconditionally and reading her learning to trust Remy was the best.

Remy is Raven's boss, a rich man, former police officer, private investigator and with his own tragic past to overcome. Remy has a large family that he loves dearly, a flirtatious personality that I really enjoyed, and a not-so-secret crush on Raven, and although she tries to convince herself that their friends with benefits arrangement is all she wants , neither can help but feel more for the other when Raven's past catches up with her and Remy is the only one who can help her.

JUST ONE MORE MOMENT is the first instalment in Carly Phillips’ contemporary, adult STERLING FAMILY erotic, romance series-a spin off from the author’s Dirty Dare and interconnected series. This is former NYPD Detective turned bar owner Remington ‘Remy’ Sterling, and waitress Raven Walsh’s story line.

Told from dual omniscient dual third person perspectives (Remy and Raven). JUST ONE MORE MOMENT follows the building romance and relationship between our story line couple. Raven Walsh works as a waitress at Remy’s bar The Back Door but Raven has a secret that refuses to let go, and our heroine is preparing to run to protect the people she loves. With his connections to law enforcement and security specialists, Remy is determined to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Remy and Raven, and the potential fall-out when the past returns taking aim at our story line heroine.

Raven Walsh is on the run, in hiding from the past but the past continues to make their presence known, threatening anyone who stands in the way. Prepared to run again, Raven finds herself under the protection of Remington Sterling, the man with whom Raven will fall in love.

The relationship between Remy and Raven begins as employee and employer but a mutual friend’s wedding pushes our couple together. A one-night stand quickly turns into something more, in the face of the threats against Raven Walsh. Remy is hoping for something more but Raven refuses to place her family and friends in the direct line of fire. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and determined secondary and supporting characters . We are introduced to Remy’s siblings: Dex, Jared, Aiden, Brooklyn, and their father Alex: Raven’s brothers Caleb and Lance, as well as their mother, and Raven’s friend and co-worker Stevie.

JUST ONE MORE MOMENT is a story of betrayal, power and control; dysfunctional family values; secrets and lies, acceptance and love. The fast paced, character driven premise is captivating and intense; the characters are dynamic and charismatic; the romance is seductive and provocative.

Just One More Moment is the first book in The Sterling Family series, which brings us back to the world of the Dare's and the Kingston's, but also introduces us to the Sterling family.

Remington "Remy" Sterling co-owns The Back Door Bar and Restaurant with Zach Dare. Remy is businessman and is very, very smart. He not only owns the bar, but he is also a private investigator and a former NYPD detective. Remy isn't the kind of guy who needs much in his life, he's pretty content with just his family, however there is one of his bar managers that has managed to catch his eye. With that said, he knows it's in everyone's best interest for him to keep his distance from the lovely Raven.

Raven Walsh left the area where she grew up as soon as she was able to. It wasn't a place where she had good memories and she wanted a fresh start. She's much happier now that she is managing The Back Door Bar, but she is also smart enough to know that the reasons that she was so miserable back at home will eventually come back to haunt her and she doesn't want to bring that horror upon anyone in her current life. For that reason, she doesn't easily make friends, or knowingly bring relationships into her life. Luckily her adoptive brother and nephew are fairly close to her, so she does have support nearby.

When a moment of weakness leads to Raven and Remy acting on the chemistry that is so palpable between them, they decide that a friends-with-benefits arrangement is the best way forward. But will that really work? Especially when they both feel stronger than that and it's becoming harder to deny? When the worst thing that Raven imagines ends up happening, will Remy be there to help? And, will the two of them come out of all of this stronger and together?

Both Remy and Raven were really strong characters and I liked how they both fought for what they wanted in their own way. They were both stubborn, but for good reason. I also enjoyed getting to know Remy's brothers and I know we'll get to know them more in upcoming books, which I look forward to. It was also fun to revisit some other characters from past books as well! Such a treat!

This was a quick read, but one I really, really enjoyed!

I’ve been waiting for former NYPD Detective turned bar owner/private investigator Remington “Remy” Sterling’s story since we met him in the final book of the Kingston Family series, Just One Tease. Not only is he incredibly smart and has made himself a ton of his own money, but he is extremely handsome. Remy is not the kind of guy who wants or needs much in his life, except for his family. But his bar manager, Raven Walsh, caught his eye when she started waitressing for him and Zach. Although he has been keeping a safe distance (and an eye on Raven), because there’s a story there, he’s just waiting for her to come to him.

Raven Walsh moved from the place she grew up in as soon as she could and changed her name. Now she’s made a home for herself in NYC, managing The Back Door Bar & Restaurant, but trying not to make friends so not to drag them into the mess she knows will be coming for her any day now. Raven’s thankful her adopted brother and his son are not too far away.

The night of Zach and Hadley’s wedding, Raven lets her guard down and she spends the night with Remy. It was an incredible night, one she knows cannot happen again, because she doesn’t want Remy to get caught up in her past. But I think she’s forgetting who exactly Remy is and how he doesn’t scare easily.

They settle on a friends-with-benefits situation, which works out well for a little while. But then the thing she fears most happens and Raven feels like she has lost everything again. But with the help of Remy, his brothers (who we will meet more of in the rest of the series) and Zach, a plan is put in place to stop the situation in its tracks.

Will Remy let Raven put herself in harms way to finally put a stop to what has plagued her since she was adopted as a child? Will Raven see that Remy is in this for good and drop the walls she built around herself? I love when Carly Phillips introduces us to a new family, which is interconnected to so many other wonderful characters from past series that we have already fallen in love with. Love does really conquer all when your heart can see what is right in front of you.

This book opens with Zach and Hadley's wedding. Raven Walsh is one of the guests as is Stevie Palmer a waitress at the bar she manages. Stevie is thrilled they got their second chance at love that they so deserve, and Raven totally agrees with her.

Zach's best man Remington 'Remy' Sterling is also their boss and Raven definitely has some dreams about him. However, in spite of his flirting she won't get close, her past is something that could turn up at any moment and then no one is safe anymore, least of all her. She does however on this night give in to her fantasies and what a night it was.

On Monday not long after Remy arrives, Raven's brother Caleb comes in needing to talk to her urgently. What he tells her rattles her and when he advises her to tell Remy she reluctantly agrees. The apartment above the bar that she rents is in the corporation's name and her lease was with Zach personally not through an agency so she's relatively safe, at least for now.

Remy suggests dinner at his place, so they'd have the privacy to talk about whatever is bothering her and she agrees. After a wonderful dinner of Chinese food, they settle in on the couch and Raven tells her story. Beginning with Lance at home before college and then later what he did to her roommate which is why he went to prison. Even their mother couldn't get her favorite son off on that.

Remy's protective words to her and refusal to let her leave because of Lance, fuel her desire for him and his for her.

Even with the threat hanging over them these two are going to be a couple. Remy is determined that she won't ever have to be afraid again.

Of course, the quiet doesn't stay that way and as this story progresses, we see the way Lance manipulates things. We see her mother's devotion to him as she makes a very public scene at the bar.

We see Caleb's love for his son and Raven as he joins forces with Remy, Zach and others to make sure Raven is safe. We see how Raven pulls on her inner strength to see this through so she can have a life without looking over her shoulder.

With laughter, love, tears, romance, suspense and sizzle you won't be able to put this book down.

"Just One More Moment" starts a new spin-off with a familiar couple that (if you've read a few of the last Carly Phillips books) you've been waiting for: bar owner Remington Sterling and bar manager Raven Walsh. She's a woman who is friendly but keeps to herself and here we find out why. He's a former NYPD cop turned occasional PI and co-owner of the bar where Raven works. They've been dancing around each other for ages now, aware of the sparks but not taking the next step. Both are stubborn and strong-willed. So when a romantic wedding leads to a one-night stand, anything could happen.

I love how much family means to Remy and Raven. Either the family you're born with or the family you make for yourself. Raven has shadows hanging over her that mean she's afraid to get close to anyone, but she is naturally a friends and family oriented person. She doesn't even realize how many people she really has around her until trouble hits and they are willing to stand with her. Her strength in dealing with things is acting contrary to her nature and being along, running when danger gets too close, and not letting herself have the family she wants. Remy has a big, loving family but even someone as together as he looks has shadows in his past that he hasn't dealt with. I really liked how Carly Phillips let the two of them lean on each other for mutual support - even if that meant sometime things weren't always perfect between them. It felt real, seeing the hard work that comes with a relationsip in a more day-to-day context and not just a damsel-in-distress context.

As strong as the main characters are, neither are perfect, and I liked that about them as much as anything. They felt real, relatable, and I was cheering for them every step of the way. A great start to a new family series, I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of them!

Remy & Raven ... a wonderful beginning

Carly Phillips has started off her new series, The Sterling Family, a spinoff from her Dirty Dares, with a fabulous read. Told in dual POV, JUST ONE MORE MOMENT is the story of Remington 'Remy' Sterling, a former detective and owner of The Back Door Bar, and waitress Raven Walsh.

Remy and Raven have a great working relationship, a wonderful chemistry, and are obviously attracted to each other. They finally share a one night stand and realise they want more, but Raven's past is catching up with her. She's been on the run, hiding from a man who blames her for putting him in prison. The last thing Raven wants to do is put her family and friends in danger. When she finally divulges her secret to Remy, he will do anything to protect her.

I loved the development of Remy and Raven's friendship; it is obvious they deeply care for each other. Remy is also dealing with his own demons, ones that have plagued him for years, only when he has dealt with him can he move on. Raven and Remy were there for each other, giving the comfort and support both needed. I loved watching them fall in love, but will fate intervene and destroy everything they've been building?

JUST ONE MORE MOMENT had everything, secrets, betrayal, acceptance, spice, family love, intensity, and romance. I enjoyed meeting Remy's family, Jared, Brooklyn, Aiden, Dex, and his father Alex. There's definitely going to be some interesting stories coming from this lot. I hope that Raven's brother Caleb gets a story, he intrigues me.

JUST ONE MORE MOMENT was another captivating, emotional, and entertaining read from Carly Phillips. Next up is Just One More Dare, featuring Dex Sterling and Samantha Dare, and I can't wait.

Running from her past, Raven Walsh has done everything she can think of to keep herself safe, knowing that it isn’t enough. She’s terrified to get close to anyone, because she knows they can be used against her, so a relationship with her sexy as can be boss isn’t on her radar.

Remington Sterling works hard for the things he has . . . and he’s willing to put in the work to convince Raven to give him a chance. And, when she confides in him just why she is so gunshy, he’s even more determined to keep her safe and give her the life she has always deserved, but never had a chance at.

But Raven’s past isn’t a joke . . .it’s back, and it’s deadly. And, now, it’s up to Remy to prove just how far he’ll go for Raven.

Ohhh, this book! It was a quick read for me because I couldn’t put it down! There’s so much tension, and of all different kinds! Raven’s backstory is crushing. While not all of it is bad (she has a brother, sister and nephew all on her side), it’s pretty tragic in every other way. Her resilience from a young age into adulthood is amazing. It’s no wonder she’s afraid to form relationships of any kind, and I truly loved Remy for forcing that issue on her and showing that he wasn’t going to abandon her when she needed him most!

Remy is not your typical billionaire. He’s brilliant and resourceful and his police detective background and resources are exactly what Remy needs, along with his alpha protector personality and his nurturing nature. But, Remy has some pretty nasty baggage weighing him down as well, and I loved watching him work through that so he could be the best man possible for everyone he cares for.

This romance is fast paced, an emotional rollercoaster and full of suspense. I loved every page and can’t wait for more from the Sterling family as the series continues! 5 stars!

Just One More Moment by Carly Phillips, book one in the Sterling Family series, a spinoff from her Dirty Dares; featuring Remington 'Remy' Sterling, a former detective and co-owner of The Back Door Bar with Zach Dare, and waitress Raven Walsh.

Remy and Raven enjoy a wonderful work relationship despite sizzling chemistry, and that these two are clearly attracted to each other; yet Raven holds back. After they finally share one night together, realizing they want more; a secret from Raven's past has returned, causing havoc to her life. She's been on the run, hiding from her vengeful brother who blames her for putting him in prison. The last thing Raven wants to do is put her family and friends in danger. Remy has his own demons as he carries guilt over the murder of his mother when he was a teenager; making him all the more determined to protect Raven while she’s just as determined not to involve him. When she finally divulges her secret to Remy, he will do anything to protect her. Raven realizes that if she doesn’t want to spend the rest of her life looking over her shoulder, she’s going to have to trust Remy to help her. I loved the development of Remy and Raven's friendship; it is obvious they deeply care for each other. Raven and Remy were there for each other, giving the comfort and support both needed.

This story has everything: secrets, betrayal, acceptance, sizzling heat, family love, suspense, and romance. Remy's family, Jared, Brooklyn, Aiden, Dex, and his father Alex are amazing and I look forward to reading stories about the them and Raven's brother Caleb.

Remington "Remy" Sterling is a private investigator as well as a co-owner of The Back Door bar and he is very intrigued by the waitress/bartender Raven Walsh. Remy would love nothing more than to hook up with this interesting woman and see if there is more to their connection. Raven on the other hand keeps blowing him off. She has her underlying reasons for not getting into a relationship with anyone, but maybe a "friends with benefits" agreement could be fun. Of course as soon as these two hook up their chemistry explodes and they both realize it's not just a for fun time anymore.

The only one from her adopted family Raven really has in her life is her brother Caleb and his son Owen. Caleb's twin, Lance is currently in jail and out of her life (thank goodness) for now. Lance made Raven's life horrible growing up and he deserves everything that has happened to him. Too bad her adoptive mother, Cassandra Kane doesn't agree.

When strange and dangerous things start happening to Raven, she quickly realizes that her past is catching up with her. Now Remy has made it his mission to protect the woman he has grown to love. When it looks like things are quieting down, all hell breaks loose. When the dust finally settles, Raven has come to realize that she really wants a life with Remy and these two find their happy ever after.

I just loved spicy, friends to lovers romance. Remy was the perfect rich, alpha man. Raven was a woman used to running away and finally found someone worth staying for. Overall this was a great start to a new series. Next up is Dex Sterling and he hooks up with Samantha Dare!

Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I just devoured this book, and let me tell you, I'm absolutely smitten! It's the kind of story that serves up a delectable blend of romance and suspense, leaving you hanging onto every word with bated breath! Remington and Raven's journey is a whirlwind of emotions as they navigate the turbulent waters of love and uncertainty.

Raven's mysterious past adds a rich layer of complexity to her character, drawing you in and keeping you hooked from the very beginning. And oh, the sparks that fly between her and her boss, Remington! Their unexpected romance is like a slow-burning flame that gradually consumes your heart, leaving you rooting for them with every turn of the page.

Remington's blend of protective instincts and genuine care for Raven is nothing short of mesmerizing. He's the kind of hero you can't help but fall head over heels for, flaws and all. But what really sets this story apart is the warm embrace of family that envelops the characters. The familial dynamics woven throughout the narrative add an extra layer of depth and authenticity, making the story feel all the more real and relatable.

Whether you're a die-hard romance enthusiast or a suspense junkie, this book has something for everyone. So, brace yourself to be swept off your feet and into the captivating world of Remington and Raven. Trust me, once you start, you won't be able to put it down. 4.5⭐ This is another amazing story by Carly Phillips. Get ready for a lot of spicy fun times in this sweet story where he breaks down her defenses before her life is endangered. Get this book to find out how Raven confronts her past, so she can have her HEA with Remy.

I am continually awed by the number of characters Carly Phillips has written about whose lives are in some way weaved into so many other characters' lives from her other series and stories, as well as interaction between her co-written series with Erika Wilde. I love that everybody is so supportive of each other, and treat each other like family, regardless if they are related by blood or friendship. Despite the inter-connectivity, you do not have to have read any of those books to read this story!

Remington Sterling is the good looking owner of The Back Door Bar and Raven's boss. He's noticed Raven and has been interested in getting to know her better for a while. He's tired of waiting. But how will he react when her past comes knocking?

I really liked that there's a slow burn that exists between Raven and Remy that started well before the beginning of this story. Raven is an independent, fierce and sassy woman who feels her past constantly breathing down her neck. She's aware that her past can catch up to her at any moment. Can Raven's past destroy her future? I so loved the ending!

Thank you Carly Phillips and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for this ARC. The above is my own and personal opinion.

The newest by Carly Phillips and the first in a new series featuring the Sterling family. We met Remy and Raven in the prior series featuring the Dares and even then I couldn't wait to finally get the story on Remington Sterling.

Remy has suffered great loss in his life and is determined to protect Raven and all her secrets. He fell for the beauty and even though she kept him at a distance she was attracted to Remy like no other man. Raven is a woman with a past the has left her on the run for years and determined never to get close to another person who could be hurt because of her.

One night at his best friend and business partner wedding, Remy can no longer keep his hands or mouth to himself and finally is determined to break down that wall Raven has built around herself. He knows she feels the same, that attraction is so strong he can feel it and knows she's doing all she can to fight it. She says it's because he's her boss but he knows things run deeper and if he can just figure out what is behind her determination to keep him at a distance.

I was excited to read Remy and Raven story, it's been a while since we were introduced to them and this story was greatly anticipated. Carly didn't disappoint with an emotional and amazing story for this couple and of course the steamy attraction was sizzling always on each page I read. I am looking forward to exploring the world of the Sterling family and following the stories of each one of these family members with Remy and Raven leading the way.

Just One More Moment is the first book in the Sterling Family series. The books in this series can be read as standalones. This is my first book by Carly Phillips, and I enjoyed it.

Remy is a former detective who is now co-owner of The Back Door Bar. Raven is the manager at the bar. They are attracted to each other however Raven fears her secrets will make anyone she cares about targets. Remy knows something is holding Raven back but doesn't want to push her. As they spend more time together, their relationship becomes a friends-with-benefits situation. Neither of them can deny their feelings for each other and want more. Raven knows she can't keep her secrets to herself forever as lives could be at risk, so she opens up to Remy. Remy vows to protect Raven and keep her out of harm's way. Raven normally runs away, but the protective, possessive alpha male, Remy, is worth staying for.

Just One More Moment has suspense, secrets revealed, family, spice, romance, and betrayal. The story is well-written and has great character development. I loved Raven and Remy together and was rooting for them. This is an excellent start to the Sterling family series, and I look forward to reading more.
