THE PLAYBOY

The Chandler Brothers from New York Times Bestselling Author Carly Phillips are back!

He’s the town’s most popular playboy.

She’s sworn off men and weddings for good.

Police officer, Rick Chandler, has managed to fend off the marriage-minded women in his small town but it’s getting more difficult with each passing day. After all, there’s something about the Chandler charm that keeps them coming back with hope in their hearts. What’s a man determined to stay single to do?

Kendall Sutton is a cliche, a runaway bride stuck on the side of the road, until she’s rescued by the sexiest cop she’s ever seen. In spite of her pearly gown and tiara, Kendall vows to never get married—which makes her the ideal fake girlfriend to ward off Rick’s legion of admirers.

But when their charade starts to feel real, suddenly the town’s most popular playboy has marriage on his mind – but will a woman with Kendall’s jaded past ever say “I do”?

In honor of THE BACHELOR’s 20th Anniversary all three books have been updated and will be reissued with gorgeous NEW covers with the same content but modernized for your reading pleasure. The BACHELOR was the first book that Kelly Ripa chose for her Reading with Ripa Bookclub.

ARC for honest review with no compensation Received from BookSprout 4.5 stars The Playboy is book 2 in the Chandler Brothers series by Carly Phillips. In book 1 we discover that their mother is ill with heart trouble (really indigestion) so the saga continues to get her sons settled down with the right woman... Up next is Rick, police officer, sexy, handsome and always fighting off the designing women as he has no intention of getting married… Until Kendall Sutton. She is stuck by the side of the road and who comes to her rescue but sexy Rick Chandler. These two are determined marriage is not for them…but…when their fake relationship starts to feel Real, what will they do? Can’t wait to see what happens to the final Chandler brother the next book!

I have enjoyed reading The Playboy by Carly Phillips, book two in The Chandler Brothers series, many times as this was one of the early series that introduced Ms. Phillips to me. This 20th anniversary reissue of the original edition is updated and has a new cover. The original sits on my keeper shelf, that’s how much I love this series. We have three brothers; each totally different with none of them wanting to marry. There’s also their mother who has devised a plan to get each of her boys to marry. The relationship between the brothers and their mother and the brothers themselves is written wonderfully. You sense the love and respect they have for each other as well as see the teasing and shenanigans between the brothers. Police officer, Rick Chandler has been able to fend off the marriage-minded women in his small town, so far; but it’s getting more challenging with each passing day. The Chandler charm seems to keep those women returning for another attempt; after all, one of these days he has to give in, right. Kendall Sutton is a runaway bride, stuck on the side of the road, until the sexiest cop she’s ever seen rescues her. When Rick arrives on the scene he thinks his mother has once again arranged a matchmaking scheme; though Kendall’s bridal gown does seem over the top. Recognizing the sparks, attraction and chemistry they have; Rick asks her be his fake girlfriend to keep his mother, and the town’s women away. Kendall agrees as she doesn’t plan to stay in town too long. Spending time together, promoting their charade, they realize that their relationship is feeling real. Rick might not be a forever kind of guy but meeting Kendall was the best thing to happen to him, and her. This book is not as sexy as Phillips’ more recent books, but still has those loveable characters that you want to cheer on, hoping for their happy ending. Ms. Phillips wrote a wonderful, emotional and sizzling story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with chemistry, amusing banter, lots of shenanigans and charming secondary characters giving Rick and Kendall a chance for happiness, love and a future together. I highly recommend The Playboy to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Great reread I loved rick and Kendall story. The fake relationship that ends up being real. The surprise child (even though it is a sister not baby). I loved Ed rereading this series and in particular this book. Getting to know the chandler brothers is so good. Carly Phillips never disappoints and getting to read the first series I read of hers is great.
