Simply Scandalous is the second book in the Simply Series. It looks like there are going to be 5 books in this series and somehow I missed the first book of this series. I didn’t find it hard to read as a standalone but now that I have read this book I want to go back and read the first book in this series.
This series was originally published under Harlequin. It is a pleasant surprise that Carly Phillips first started out as a Harlequin author and that she had been around that long.

This is Logan Montgomery and Catherine Lucks story. First off I love, love, love Logan’s meddling grandmother. Everyone needs a grandma like that.

I loved reading this story and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

This book is short (only 12 chapters plus an epilogue) so it's more like a novella. It's Catherine and Logan's story. Logan comes from a wealthy, high society family. He's a lawyer who is a public defender. His controlling father wants him to run for mayor as a stepping stone to a political career, following a family tradition. Catherine is from the other side of the tracks. She and her sister own a small, growing catering company. Because of some of her other relatives, the family endured scandal in the media. Logan and Catherine are instantly drawn to each other when they meet, but Catherine feels there's no possibility of a relationship between them because of their social differences. Logan's grandmother, Emma, really livened things up. She was outrageous and hilarious.

This is the 2nd in the Sinful series being remade and released by Carly and it was as delightful hot read.

Catherine Luck has worked hard to get her catering business off the ground and successful and she can't believe her LUCK that she has been hired by one of the most influential families in the area of Boston to cater the family Garden Party. She knows this will be the one job that will solidify her place and make her business the best it can be. Little does she know the matriarch of the Montgomery family has a little plan of her own for Catherine!

Logan Montgomery, son of the affluent Judge Montgomery wants nothing to do with the trapping of his family name. A man who struck out on his own, is a public defender and lives on his salary rather than his trust is not looking forward to another of his Gran's garden parties. But as the only one who actually cares about him and he loves unconditionally, he gives in and makes the trip to the family estate. Again, Gran has a plan all her own for her number one grandson.

The moment Logan lays eyes on Catherine he's intrigued with the beauty and thinks the party may not be so bad after all. The smoldering chemistry is unmistakable between the two but when the Judge reminds Catherine of her place as a caterer an to not fraternize with the guests she knows nothing can happen. She won't put herself in that position to be hurt, she has learned in life not to trust easily or that she deserves that happily ever after.

This is a great fun read and you will root for Logan all along to win the heart of the beautiful Cat, he's not at all what she thinks he is and soon her heart is engaged, something she never wanted but can't help. Then along comes a scandal and she's not sure she can trust Logan after all. Follow the steamy romance with attraction that can be denied to their happily ever after.

Simply Scandalous, by Carly Phillips book two in her Simply series, is a reissue of her early stories; an enjoyable read and one of the many early books of hers that I read and re-read. This re-release has been modernized, updated and expanded. This is story is tamer than the current, hot and sizzling books she writes.

This story is of two people brought together by a very sneaky grandmother, Emma, who wants to see her grandson, Logan Montgomery, married off before she dies. She’s healthy as an ox after suffering a mild heart attack which she uses to her advantage in order to meddle. After meeting Cat Logan, a caterer, Emma knows that she’s perfect for Logan. Cat’s questionable background could kill two birds with one stone; help Logan get off the fast track his father wants, and give him a scandal at the same time by falling for Cat. When Cat and Logan meet, world collide, fireworks explode and they question Emma’s thinking. Cat has trust issues while Logan has major baggage in the expectations of his father. Logan is from money and high society while Cat is from the wrong side of the tracks, working her way up the hard way. Cat can’t see how anything could work between them while Logan is determined to convince her to give them a chance. Now, it is up to them to overcome the obstacles placed along their path to finding a way to work things out.

Ms. Phillips wrote a wonderful, sweet story filled with family drama that will pull at your heartstrings, made so many readers fall in love with her stories and should not to be missed. She provided a classic tale rich with chemistry, amusing banter, and charming characters in order for Logan and Cat to find their own happily ever after. I highly recommend Simply Scandalous to other readers.

Katherine and Logan… such a good combo

You start out by loving the grandmother. She had so much spunk and just wants the best for her grandchildren. I love that Logan is his own person and does want he wants for his life and not what his father wants. Katherine has been alone a long time and it’s hard for her to let someone in.
